MOVE WITH THE PLANTS
Dance and medicinal plants in the seasonal cycle with Belinda Winkelmann.
Public workshops at Malvaux – Center for eco-somatic exploration in the forest, Biel/Bienne.
Spring weekend: 29-30.03.2025
Summer weekend: 21-22.06.2025
Autumn weekend: 11-12.10.2025
Winter weekend: 10-11.01.2026
Four workshops are organized throughout the year. Together, we explore the link between the body and certain plants, each season focusing on a particular plant. We discover them with all our senses and explore them through movement and dance. An intuitive approach to medicinal plants is a central aspect in this process – we let ourselves be guided by our inner impulses, perceiving plants in their subtle presence and deepening our relationship with them on a sensory and artistic level. Together, we explore the vitality of spring, the abundance of summer, the reflection of autumn and the visions of winter.
Program
Somatic and sensory experiences: together, we experience different seasonal dynamics in the body and let ourselves be inspired by the plants.
Dance and art in nature: through dance and artistic actions in nature, we create moments that we materialize and immortalize in the form of spontaneous performances.
Celtic traditions: we draw inspiration from ancient rituals and wisdom that deepen our relationship with nature and celebrate the cycles of the year.
The workshops provide a space for personal experimentation and collective creativity.
The series is led by Belinda Winkelmann, accompanied by a member of the Malvaux team. Each weekend can be attended independently, with the possibility of registering for one or more.
Guest
Belinda Winkelmann is a choreographer, freelance performer and teacher of dance and somatic practices. She trained in dance, improvisation & performance at Bewegungs-Art in Freiburg (DE) and obtained a Master’s degree in social sciences in Fribourg (CH). Belinda Winkelmann creatively combines choreography, dance, improvisation, somatic practices as well as communication and transmission. From 2018 to 2022, as twOne Company with Ewelina Kotwa, she developed dance productions whose choreographic writing combines a radically pared-down aesthetic with poetic expressivity. As a founding member of com.dance e.V., since 2018 she has been choreographing mixedabled dance performances and developing mediation formats for professional artists as well as actors* from various areas of society.
Her collaboration with dancer and choreographer Raúl Martínez began in 2021, and is rooted in a shared interest in deep reflection on societal, ecological and neo-colonial issues. She believes that art is a deep human need and that dance can create awareness and inspire social change. Her artistic creation revolves around the relationship between humans and nature. She wants to encourage people to see themselves as part of a larger whole.
